I was diagnosed with a slipped disc in 2008. My orthopaedic surgeon referred me to traditional physiotherapy and prescribed me painkillers, but progress was slow, and the painkillers were causing more side effects than relief. It was a little disheartening. It was then that I met Meenakshi through a friend who had a disc surgery and was taking Meena’s sessions. I saw the tremendous progress she had made with Meena’s systematic regime and was impressed by it.
Despite being a thorough professional, Meena always has a warm and friendly demeanour. During our first few sessions, she mostly focused on theory, which somewhat concerned me, as I wanted a quick fix to my disc problem. However, as we progressed to actual exercises, I understood the importance of learning these theoretical aspects and realized that the knowledge I acquired from Meena regarding my own musculoskeletal system was invaluable. It helped me do the exercises without any errors, which could have caused more pain and damage to my body. Her exercises taught me to visualize myself in a positive light, helping the healing process. Coordinated breathing took a whole new meaning when Meena explained its significance in the corrective exercises. I was able to overcome the fear of pain and developed confidence to deal with it. Thanks to Meena, I was back to my routine in a short period!
Meena’s approach to healing is structured and targeted, but not rigid. She teaches both mental and physical flexibility. Even during online sessions, she can quickly identify the problem just by observing her patient’s alignment and recommends suitable corrective exercises. I have been taking sessions with Meena on and off for 16 years, and I can safely say she continues to add to my well-being. By well-being, I don’t only mean aspects of physical well-being. I have been working with special needs children and I am passionate about my work. My disc issues put me on a back foot for a while. But with Meena’s help, I regained my confidence and dove into my work fully. I strongly feel that no physical pain which is manageable should interfere with, or cause a hurdle to our professional commitments. We should find the right assistance in time, so we can heal and get back to doing what we love to do. Meena’s holistic approach has played a major role in my recovery.
As a therapist who works with special needs students myself, I value the structured and comprehensive guidance Meena provides to her clients. I am certain that her philosophy and methods will be implemented in various Moksha programs, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the therapy sessions at Moksha to patients of all ages and background.
